On 13 September, at Lido Spineta in Battipaglia, a reenactment of Operation Avalanche — the Salerno Landing of 9 September 1943 — was held with the participation of associations specialized in historical reenactment, such as “Noi Soldati al Fronte 43–45” and the “Living History Group”. Several vintage military vehicles were also on display thanks to Kubel 1943.
The aim is certainly not to celebrate war, but to remember how from that terrible battle the local community — and later all of Europe — was able to rediscover Peace, thanks above all to the creation of the European Common House, which united former enemies.
For this reason, the White Roses Ceremony, attended by local authorities and school students, opened the evening, followed by the Radio Onda event: a historical storytelling format that combines music, readings, and dance to narrate History in an engaging way.
